Do you have a spare bedroom? Could you offer a warm welcome? If so, why not register with us as a host family?

Hosting our overseas students offers more than just a financial benefit. It also broadens experiences and often leads to lifelong friendships.

Our aim is to give our young learners a comfortable environment to experience a new culture and practice their English language.

We are always happy to hear from new potential host families. Please take a moment to fill in our Become a host family form and our team will be in touch.

*All host families will require an enhanced DBS check which we cover the cost of.

What happens next?

1. Initial host family visit

We will contact you directly and send you our application form and some other information.
If you appear suitable, we will make an appointment to visit you at home. This will take 30 – 60 minutes and will include an informal chat about our expectations. Importantly, we will assess your facilities and answer any questions you may have.
During this visit we may also make some recommendations about the bedroom(s) depending upon the room set-up, etc. Please do not be offended, we are simply trying to mange expectations on both sides.

We offer two programme types

Short stays

These groups are typically 14 to 16 years old and travel to visit the area by coach. They stay for 3 or 4 nights and this is usually between Monday to Friday only.

Hosts may need to drop off and collect these groups from a local designated location.

Language groups

This programme offers participants a longer stay - one, two, or three weeks. It offers a full immersion, meaning the students travel independently to and from their host family on public transport during the programme. These are typically 16 to 18 years old .

You are not charged any tax on income from hosting students, meaning you can earn £7500 per year tax free.

The total amount we transfer directly to you will be all yours.

This means that your students will be away from your home from 8am until 6pm or 7pm every day. You do not have to worry about keeping them entertained or students returning home early.

Many of our host families have not only made lifelong friends with their students. They also make lasting new friendships amongst our network of local families.
